Utter nonsense.

I also recently tried informing the DVLA of changing my engine capacity to a 2.5 in my classic. They wanted me to go to a garage and pay for them to confirm it had been done. F*ck that. So whilst its mighty honest of me to try and inform them I'll not be jumping through hoops and paying for the privelidge of being honest.

LEGALLY you have to inform the DVLA of any engine changes.

If you do or don't, is entirely down to you.

Well I got a pull from Old Bill/Vosa, and they noted that my engine number DIDN'T match what was ojn the V5. (Nor does the gearbox number, but they didn't spot that).

They told me I should declare it, so I went on the DVLA site, but I would now have to go to a garage and PAY someone to say it's been done. Utter crap.

Not going to bother..............you can't BE honest in this country without some tw@ finding a way to get money off you

LEGALLY I have informed them, they wanted me to prove it and pay for the privelidge after informing them. I've also told them its had a colour change but they took my word for that. I'm not paying to convince them of the engine change, declaring it on my V5 is fulfilling my legal obligation.

Grind off the 2.5 engine number and replace with the 2.0 number

well as it stands it doesn,t matter what engine you fit you pay the same tax band so it wont go up or down it just depends when the car was registered
