If you can stretch your budget I would go for a STI.

No mention of a remap to support those mods, but perhaps an oversight by the dealer?

ive looked into the sti but the running costs insurance etc is a bit too high.. i asked the dealer if it had been mapped an he said he didnt know. so im guessing it hasnt unless when i look through the history i find a recipt. would it need mapping with just being de-catted an a filter??

looks nice but for that money i would look at a sti.

if you get the wrx and then remap it ,you still got to tell insurance company and i bet in the end would have been cheaper to get the sti.

Everyone keeps saying its hceaper to do it on an STI but sometimes it isnt, mine is still cheaper with ALL my mods declared than a standard STI, thats how big the difference is sometimes.

It's not that it's cheaper to do it to an STI but the end result is better. The STI is a far superior car buddy.
You'll only wish you got an STI.
Stronger internals, better seats, DCCD, etc etc.

Ive had both WRX and now got STi and STi is worth the extra plus if you want high 300+ bhp 6 speed box if safer and that alone is 2k. Its also got better suspension and brakes and if you think you will end up doing this to a WRX just go the STi route.

DCCD is only on JDM STI i believe. But even so, STI is still a far superior car.

looks good dude that is some real low mileage.

as far as i know the car should be fine with out the map but will run 10x better with it mate but i would ditch the filter and put a air box back on with a good element

If you can't stretch to an 05 STI then why not get a slightly older model STI.
A couple of months will go by (along with a couple of STI's) and you'll wish you got one.

how old are you now? if the main reason is insurance then you may just have to wait and settle for the WRX for now, but even that you're going to love after the type R and although they may not have as much potential as an STi, they still have more to be squeezed out of them.

macdonalds hahhahahah, is it just personal preference or is the divide over whether they make a difference to performance??
