As per the thread title.

I already have headlamp protectors but regardless of this, is it required or advised to tape headlights for a track day?

Can appreciate that glass on the track isn't good plus replacememt units aren't cheap so anything that protects them has to be a good thing.

If so, what is the best tape to use?

Glass lenses require taping when i've been on track, PLastic lenses dont and its suppose to stop the glass shattering the whole lense if a stop from another car hits it at 100+

i just use blue detailing tape so it doesnt leave a mark when it comes off!

none of the ones i have been on have enforced headlight taping, as said i would if your lenses are glass, but if plastic, just crack on!

They don't normally enforce it but it would be good practice too do it on glass lights .

thats one of the reasons i took my glass lights out and replaced with plastic ones instead.
