Tyre choice
Hi guys, as the title says i'm after your opinions on the tyres you have used,
i've had toyo's and a few others just want to know what your running and how they fare, wet and dry grip as well as wear.
I run a type r circa 350bhp and i want to use the original 16's with 205,50
YES I KNOW THERE IS A TYRE SECTION!!!
But i put it here as i think it will attract more replies
thanks in advance...

Value Tyres
Falken are good mid-range (price) tyres.
Also used (value range) Accelera - which some don't rate much - but they've got a decent tread pattern.
however, best to go with the big brands if you can.

I had toyos T1R's and hated them. Everyone kept going on about how great they were. I really thought they were awful.
Moved on to Maxis, (Budget, I know) it was only meant to be temporary as i was in the process of getting new wheels. They are better than the toyos and half the price.
I now have Pirelli P ZERO NERO's. They are awesome. Haven;t done many miles in them yet but they are great in the dry or wet.
Above are on a V4 sti 205/50/16
Several years ago i had an x plate uk 2000 turbo
Tried Avon ZV3's - The worst tyre i have ever had. They turned the car into a nippy mondeo.
Move on to Bridgestone Potenza RE050 (SUBARU). Probably the best tyre i've ever had.
I would have bought these again for my V4 but after researching on here they have had a lot of bad reviews.
Hope this helps

I didn't mind the T1-r Toyos when I had my last Scoob but they tended to give way far too quickly once reaching any form of grip limit, unlike other tyres which may progressively lose grip on the road. Totally different car admittedly but when I had my 205 GTi it had 4 Goodyear Eagle F1s. These were very good all round but wore quickly even on a 850kg car. I replaced the two fronts with Uniroyal Rainsport II tyres which at £44 each for 195/50/15 were worn a bash. They are the best tyres I've eve had on any car, really really good all round. I appreciate in standard form the 205 is a slower but better handling car than a Scoob but for the money compared to the so called 'top' brands they were superb. I'd definitely use them on my next Scoobaru.

Some reason it will only let me upload 3
Back on tyres the Goodyears on mine lasted about 16k including 3 trips to a drag strip, so lasted pretty well for me. But I also put that down to having my geometry done perfectly at Power station.
Done about 4k on my Vred's and they look pretty much as new.

I have found otherwise. I've not tried the asymmetric Eagles but I had the GSD3 versions which were awesome, the sessantas are comparable dry but not as good in the wet in my experience.

Got recommended Nexen and have no complaints about them, I'm running the p6000 and have good grip in dry and wet!
They are mid range I think at about £80 each.
Never tried anything else apart from what was on the car and I think they were bridgestones!
