not sure about power wise, but generally from behind the UK models will say subaru somewhere whereas the JDM ones tend not to. JDM will usually be in KMs on the dash, other differences are subtle and vary depending on model. Rear lights are often slightly different, a little square fog light under the rear bumper is a dead give away of an import.

Off my head:
Visually -
Rear wiper on JDM
Optional privacy glass on JDM
Slightly different taillights on JDM (JDMs do not have rear foglights)
HID on JDM bugeye model
Performance -
Twinscroll (MY03 onwards) on JDM
Better heads and cams on JDM
Different turbo on JDM
Closer gear ratios on JDM
Different drivetrain on JDM (JDM has optional DCCD from MY03 onwards])
Power - 265ps on UK STI vs 276ps on JDM STI (MY01-MY05)
Redline - 8000rpm JDM vs 7200rpm UK (MY01-MY05)
Basically all the above adds up to a nicer and sharper drive.
