Default Newbie buying advice

Hey,

I'm sure this has been posted a tons of times but wonder if anyone could help me with helping to identify Subaru models.

I'd love the WRX STi or WRX 300 but how do i know the model is actually what people say they are? Alot of people just put WRX how can i tell these models apart to make sure they aren't the WRX AWD or a GX before going to look at them.

Thanks

A WRX is just that a WRX, the STi is a separate model, albeit the same car but much different mechanically.

The UK300 is a special edition based on the WRX but with a tweaked ECU, headlight change, STi style interior and a different spoiler. Possibly a couple of other things.

In terms of telling them apart, post up pictures of potential cars. If you are close by to them, check the V5 as it should tell you what model it's registered as. You can also post up chassis codes.

I would say unless someone is trying to deceive you by dressing a WRX up as an STi you're not likely to mistake them

Only if it has the PPP and depends on what year it is, ie MY01 or MY05 as they did 2 lots, first will be 215bhp and the 2nd will be 223bhp unless it has the PPP fitted (then the first is 245bhp and the 2nd one is 262bhp).

If you're after a classic then Tony who posted above will be able to help you out with all the models etc. He seems to know the model inside all

Yeah - before 2000, the classix shape WRX was only available as a Japanese grey import. With the 'newage' bug-eye & blob-eye cars, Subaru named the UK models WRX.
