I've just removed mine as it was destroying my mpg, now getting 250 miles to a tank compared to 190.

leaking metered air on part throttle? not good for the bores either

Sounds like it was on its way out, just replace it with another standard one as any VTA dumpvalve will have a similar effect on your fuel economy

if it was set too soft (thes are adjustable spring pressure ones?) then it may of been leaking metered air on part throttle

Standard one ALL DAY LONG !!!
I had the Baileys one since I bought the car and after 2 years I decided to check if there is any difference so put the OEM one on.
What a DIFFERENCE !!!
Aftermarket Dump Valves - NEVER AGAIN !!! Unless going for high BHP (400bhp) than will have no choice.

Car will run smoother too, especially under partial throttle and will reach full boost quicker after a gear change.

The best dunp valve is the one in the dustbin

Keep the standard one on
It makes the car run better and Subaru designed it that way

If you feel the need to impress young teenagers at McDondalds get some go faster stripes and leave it in 2nd gear and rev more ,thus making more noise

Listen to the experts on here

This question should be a Sticky.

Q: "Which dump valve is best?"

A: "The one Subaru originally put on your car"

Q "But it doesn't make a noise, I want a noise"?

A "You are a ****"

End of thread!

I've got an aftermarket one on mine, but it IS a recirculating type, even though I'm running 400+ with a FMIC.

Scoobyjoe: look first at the brakes: do they have SUBARU across them? If not, upgrade those first.

Then look at the suspension: solid droplinks all round, plus a stiffer REAR arb, (leave the front one alone). Then get the 4-wheel geometry done somewhere that knows what it's doing, I can recommend Carnetix and Powerstation.

THEN you'll be able to drive faster safely.

Depending what exact ecu you have, some can't be remapped and engine changes without a remap spells big £££££ in repair bills, maybe total failure.....

Full exhaust, panel filter, fuel pump and a remap, this should get you about 270-280bhp

I had a Bailey dump valve on I couldn't rev it in second gear to 60 can now after putting standard one back on. Keep original one on does run much smoother.

a wastegate is a valve inside your turbo exhaust housing which is opened by an actuator to allow exhaust gas to by-pass the exhaust turbine and regulate the boost produced by the turbo.
a dump valve or diverter valve opens when there is a manifold vacuum i.e the throttle is shut, and removes excess pressure from the inlet to prevent compressor surge. a dump valve will vent this pressure to the atmosphere whereas the standard diverter valve will pass the air back into the inlet side of the compressor housing.

im running a ssqv as cant really fit the standard one with a rotated inlet and FMIC
given the choice i think i would go standard
but i have no issues running the HKS
once or twice when i have let of the gas she has popped loudly from the exhaust dont know why this is but all seems well
