They are saying £1:55 by the end of June and £1:75 in the Autumn ... the Winter see's a big hike always - but that's a bit too far ahead. Early indications are £2:00 a Litre in a years time.
God, I'm glad my car now does 55mpg - really, I am ....

It really is getting beyond a joke. I'm not really a worrier when it comes to fuel cost as I do very little miles in the impreza but this is getting crazy.
Something will go off big time if prices keep rising at this rate.

A few weeks ago I noticed 200 litres of methanol was about 200 pounds.
If only it could be stored easily and safely... not sure my lawnmower would like it though.
A friend in the US mentioned yesterday that a gallon (US gal) had gone up to 4 USD, so they're still laughing, relatively speaking.

PS lewis can you point me in the direction of my local Honda dealer as I would like a 55mpg old moaners car .
On a serious note I really can't imagine how much some of you guys who use your scoobs as daily drivers pay in petrol , I use a company vehicle for work and our Megane for trips to the shops etc .
How do petrol/diesel prices compare to other countries in europe ?

What's worse is as I was queing to pay I became victim of cruel advertising and feckless selling techniques and ended up spending £4 on scratch cards, 60p on a pack of mints and £7.99 on a DVD. Have they no shame? Oh wait, nearly forgot to mention again the extra 62.7p on my fuel bill this week..

I was up at eider yesterday and saw diesel at £1.50 a litre and £1.44 at Newcastle
I've noticed cars seem to be driving at 50 rather then 60 on my way to work every morning
Filled up the wrxd £75 and it was £62 20 months ago to fill it up
At work we are getting more telephone enquiries before people visit and foot flow is down slightly from last year

Diesel is no cheaper unless you do loads of mileage. Around town etc there is no benefit once you way up cost of diesel, and when things go wrong on most diesels they cost.

Diesels go on forever ...... nowt goes wrong.
How can 55 mpg = 20 mpg? Never!
Yes, of course, the benefits of a diesel mount as each mile goes by ...... but the gas guzzlers are finished as everyday transport - weekend toys, yes, maybe - but that's all.

Diesels do not go on forever, they are very dirty vehs and because of the ever tightening emmisions laws they recirc alot of the exhaust gas and that just carbons up the inlets etc and then everything starts going pete tong, they even have a large number of problems with common rail injection. I am a certified and currently employed veh technition of 11 years and diesel engines are one of my strong points so i can reassure you that in todays world and given the complexity and repair costs of a modern diesel engine that you are in fact saving no money at all when compared to the petrol equivalent. just wait until all that money that you think you are saving has to be spent on repair bills for your supposedly cheap to run diesel. you my friend can carry on deluding yourself that you are saving money but you are not because when a modern diesel engine fails it is very expensive to put right which is why so many of them end up scrapped! have you not noticed how many small engined petrols are on todays roads or do you spend all day on the forums trying for a bite i would have thought that having a cheap to run car that you would be out all day long driving it and not have any time left to post on the forums.
