Default 60000 mile service

Took my 05 STi for her 60000 service with 49000 on the clock and boy was i shocked. Last year she had her 50000, that cost me £550 but today i walked away £671 lighter. I thought 50000 was the big one so you can see how it caught me off guard.

My sore point to this is if i had researched that the 60000 mile service has a plug change included i would have told the guys not to change my week old NGK 7's for a set of 6's. Or my K&N filter for that matter. Lol

On the plug change there is a funny thing, when i did mine i had to remove the battery so all info on my audio settings and car watch was lost. Even though the plugs were changed today (and i did check ) all my settings are still the same. So how did they get the plugs changed without the removing the battery?

Another thing is that they say they replaced both my rocker cover gaskets. Can this really be done without lifting the motor?

My Battery also came out when I had my plugs done.

Just being Nosey was that specialist or main dealer price?

£671 was at the dealer. Its the last stamp in the book so i wanted to do it with a dealer. Can a specialist stamp these books?

They probably plugged a memory saver in the cigarette lighter to keep radio memory

Your better off buying all u need for your service yourself and giving it to a garage u trust, when im due a service ill maybe buy the sparkplugs a couple of months before then everything else in the next few months.

So the time it comes to your service your only paying labour costs.

Its alot more gentle on the pocket than gettin stung all in the one go.

Just my opinion of course.

Thats some big figures you've been paying! Get yourself to a specialist you'll have a fortune. I paid less than half what the dealer wanted for a 50k service.

I changed my own plugs (05 STi) and only needed to unbolt and lift up the washer bottle to get to the N/S.

I thought the 60k/6 year service was just a basic oil change etc much like the 10k/1 year service? Like you say the big one is the 50k and cambelt at 40k?

My understanding is they stamp the book when they do the things that need to be done , if a brake fluid change is due and you don't do it they don't stamp the book. It makes sense if you think about it would you want someone to mislead you when you brought a car you thought had FSH. I guess if you know the guy at the garage and he purposefully overlooks something that could happen I guess.
