Default How much and what to do?

Evening all how much would it cost and what would I need to do in order to achieve 400+bhp on my classic turbo 2000?

Sell it, buy a much newer car (sti, uk or jdm) spend your money in that and you end up with a better all round 400+ car

It'll always be slower than the same power classic though Tony

TX.

PS

What do you need & what is cost ish to get a newage JDM to 400? Just out of interest of course

It's a myth that it will be slower well unless you use a uk car, it won't be on a jdm
Cost is around 3.5k for the twin scroll setup, but the power delivery will eat classics (and newage uk's) due to the great flexibility of the engine

Mostly a twin scroll turbo and exhaust system...

To the OP,
£2.5K for a six speed plus Brembos all round + £500
A newage STI motor £1200
Plus turbo, exhaust manifold, FMIC, fuel system. £3.5 K ? ? ?

So 8 K plus a clutch...

IMHO

Clutch, turbo, exhaust manifold, injectors, re-map... brakes, suspension, etc.

You will need at least good turbo(probably best bet based on Garrett GT30 core from £700-£1400 or TD05-20G but with this you will not see 400bhp without Methanol, used TD05-20G cost around £550),FMIC(HDi cost around £350),Exhaust(£350),Headers(GT Spec used £300),650cc(used £200) or you can run STi pink with FPR,OS Remap(£225-£350),uprated pads at least(£150-£180)..

Honestly,
Your better off buying a ready built one. You'll end up spending a fortune otherwise.
OR,
Stick 150 shot of nos in your classic. Would see 400bhp, all be it for a very short time. About 5 minutes.

You could drop a Newage STI lump in and get 360 bhp for a lot less cash...

A crash damaged donor STI makes the best sense...

My last Impreza was a classic MY00 WRC Type RA. It had the VF29, ported headers K&N induction kit and ECUTEK mapped - was supposed to be 320HP but never tested it. It did have low gearing though.

This was plenty fast for me.

IF, I were to start with a Bugeye Prodrive STI - what would I need/cost for it to feel "as quick" as my old RA. Not looking for top line figures just want that sinking feeling in your stomach when you floor it

One of these MDH turbo things?

well dunx has same car as me i believe bug sti prodrive mines sitting at 340 with decat-filter and duncan open source map and does pull really well

but im gonna swap to a md321 and ported headears and up pipe later in the year and a map tweak from duncan again and we will see what that produces should be around the 380-400 mark i would think although on standard internals, car does not get dragged, tracked and is a daily driver so will see how it lasts
