Default Scooby virgin.

hi.

im new to the site and have been recommended it by a friend.

i am looking into getting my first scooby but dont know a lot about common faults/ things to look for when im going to look at them.

i am also a novice on models, specs etc.

i am looking to get some advice rwagrding good models to looks for, what watch out for and signs that tell me that im about to buy a lemon and to walk away.

i have some knowledge of cars but like i have said i'd rather have a cherry than a lemon.

please could you share any knowledge you have about buying a decent scooby and what to watch out for when viewing them.

thanks

i have been looking at at 95 M reg one. its this kind of shape that i like and is within my price budget

its a wrx but like i said im new to the scooby world and dont really know what im looking for.

i have found out that there is uk spec, euro import and jap imports. but i dont really know the difference between the all.

looking to get educated before i just hand over the dosh.

im looking at getting one in the next two months. im hoping to find a good base model which i can maybe throw some engine mods on in order on.

I'm 25 and I have just got 5 years no claims and also just had the points on my license removed so I thought it would be a good time to be looking at a more powerful car. But if you do know any good insurance companies tthat are cheap please let me know.

I've been wanting a scooby for years but because of insurance I have never got one but its come to the time
That I can afford it.

A 16 year old car of any make is an unwise buy. Save some more money mate or end up with a banger that will be well past its prime. You could buy a newage bugeye wrx for your budget which will be newer, stronger and quite likely have less mileage and service history. You also need to do SOME research, dont leave it all to us. You can easily read on the internet about the 2 main model types, wrx and sti, and their performance figures, technical data, etc. That wouldnt take you more than an hour or so!

hi there mate, im 8 months into owning my first subaru i went for a my95 wrx import. My budget was 3000 my advice is to look around and dont buy the first one you see i looked at loads before i found mine. Just look for low mileage and plenty of history servicing etc. Not all 16 year old cars are bangers there are a few good ones about!!!! as for insurance i went with adrian flux £480 fully comp for me and the wife!! cheaper than my vectra gsi!!!
