my brakes are ok.. not as responsive as they should be on a turbo.. pads are mintex and fairly new, standard discs with single pot callipers.

whats the best thing to do.. bleed brakes? get braided hoses? better pads or calipers?

Find a pair of Subaru OEM 4 pots with decent pads / disks, braided hoses and fresh fluid. (Ian at godspeed can provide )

Stamp on brakes hard then break nose on steering wheel

If the pedal doesn't feel spongy then it's more likely the calliper / disc / pad combination.

The Single pot callipers are notoriously poor and I'm not entirely sure why Subaru opted for them....cheap to use probably.

I'd start with the callipers as they are a weak spot on the braking front .........

As above, if it has the two-pot calipers, (not branded SUBARU), then nowt you do will be any good. Save your money and buy a newer car or get better calipers/bigger discs.

£200 quid off ebay, reconditioned (Godspeed £350), or exchange (J Autos £150, but you have none to exchange) is about the starting point to ditch the early calipers............

Unlikely, as it's not the weak point in the system.

Loads of choice with pads.......Ian godney can provide OEM copy disks (grooved with black painted centres) and kevlar pads as a package.
