Best mileage from a tank of petrol?
#1
Had a long motorway journey plus some interesting B road dashes and was stunned to see 300 miles from a tank! Car is a standard MY01 WRX and no I wasn't driving Miss Daisy! Does anyone else get a similar return when using motorways, as I usually only get about 200 miles per tank?

I got around 180 miles from half a tank when I was cruising at 70mph on the motorway! In the end I only got 270 from the tank as I took it for a thrash down the lanes on the second half of the tank.
Usual mileage: 220miles per tank
Theoretical mileage: Around 360miles (if I behave myself!)

Drove from Aberdeen to Cambridge. On the motorways 300 miles was the best. 210 quid spent on petrol to do 1038 miles
Worst 150 miles on a tank. I only had the car about a week and was still finding out what it could do, legally of coarse

Last year whilst travelling up to Scotland my girlfirend got 360 miles from a tank full (~330 miles to warning light on), and that was about 50% motorway at 70 mph and the rest gentle cruising at 50 mph. We have never got anywhere near than again of course.

Wot never using the Turbo?
You must be kin nuts.
Sir, your car is a Imprexa Turbo in case you have not noticed,
and is a performance vehicle.
Please consider buying a Montego Diesel (normally aspirated) of course.
Driving your car for extended without using the turbo can in fact
damage your engine, the turbo is in fact there for a purpose.
Go on, nail it. You know you want to.

Dan,
Yes motorway driving will improve mpg, I consistantly get 27-30mpg cruising the M1 which equates roughly to about 325 miles to 50 litres, it's the hard accelerating that drinks the juice as we all find out with our lead boots when given the chance
Si, do a little research I think you'll find the turbo is always in use mate

Calm down Floyd!! Only asked as I've never seen a return like I had the other day! Like most I usually get somewhere around the 200 mile mark, was just suprised to see 300 miles on the odometer.

As it happens, I never get more than 280 on 52 litres. Someone managed 380 but I think it was a windup.
As search isn't working I'll forgive you this time, but if I see you post questions about-
What is a PPP?
How fast are Turbos?
Subaru vs EVO, which is better?
How much will my service cost?
What do they change on the 45k service?
How much will a SS exhaust cost on insurance?
How much power has an import WRX got?
I've just got flashed by a Gatso, will I get a ticket?
What's the bright button do?
Should I use Optimax?
-without looking at FAQ (also on SIDC site) first then I'll be mildly disgruntled....
