Can Vouch for Andy's builds! I nearly went the Cosworth route with mine but got a fully forged 2.5 with refurbished AVCS heads and all new oily parts (Sump modine etc.) Built as a Long block with all ancillaries etc. from my own engine for less than just the bare Cosworth short block!

This is something I have always wondered although I doubt a fully forged 2.5 wouldn't cost to much less than that. I'm sure bandwagon has just bought a hawkeye with a cosworth block in it and it seems to be holding up extremely well.

We would supply that item for £3627.28 inc vat. If there were any available!
No stock from Cosworth at present.
As an alternative we would build you a brand new cased short block, using the same Cosworth components for £3550 inc vat delivered.

Alan, I always thought that the 2.5 even if forged still had a tendancy to still let go. What power can these hold up to, the cosworth site states 800bhp but is that true

Have a T25. with engine rebuild taking place now.
Reason for rebuild has been posted on here before, but a short sharp detail follows.
New Twin Scroll fitted LM500, Iain mapping .
Engine siezed on him near home, Engine taken apart, Valve dropped, valve seating damadged , piston hold.
Once everything checked Iain found that the bores were oval, and has a cracked linner.
Yup! another weak 2,5 block. And as we all know the Mk2 T25s are fitted with the Cosworth blocks.
Iain , has had very thick linners fitted, which should make the block much stronger, which is also going to be the same spec, as his new T25 if and when it appears?
He is also doing a batch of engines so they are available off the shelf, so it may be worth giving him a ring? Bob Rawle has also had his latest engine fettled by Iain.
It maybe of soem help?

Eric Hsu (product chap from Cosworth US) referred to the EJ25 as more of a 'case' rather than a block, which changes shape, under load, according to his blog, which makes interesting reading.
The standard block + cosworth rods, pistons, rings and large rotor oil pump is roughly the same cost as the prebuilt unit, isn't it?
So if they're going to build, balance and blueprint (is that the correct term for recording the tolerances?) it, makes sense to me if you can get hold of one.
It's a shame they don't do a balanced and built 2.2 closed deck block.
