Can you get a 2 door Type RA. I think white is by far the nicest colour.

2 door version is called 'type R'.
Black one - you'll be lucky
Value - how long is a piece of string. Rough ones worth about £3K, good ones can be had for £5K.

Find one you like, post up a link and you'll get all the advice you'll need.

What is your budget?
If you want a roof vent then you won't get one in black, only the limited type r's have these and those are blue.

There are a shed load of subaru versions with a load of initials that seem to mean something.

RA = Race Altered, and for the classic early cars meant stripped out cheap versions with lots of stuff missing meant for rally car conversions.

Type R = Retna, The Retna was a cheap 3 door subaru coupe, the bodyshell for which was hijacked by Subaru for a rally car and spawned the Type R road cars

RA for later newage cars = Record Attempt.......the drive around the 'Ring, these cars were Spec C cars where spec C= Competition, modified for better performance. Subaru Dropped the "Race Altered" cars for the newage (apart from the newage early bugeye) because they were a bit "soft".......

Lots of homework needed if you are going to buy the car you want

surely buying a diesel would be better at this time when fuel prices are stupid . scoobys are good cars but its maintaining them if you aint got the cash for maintencance i wouldnt bother. you might save money buying just a tdi and remapping it.. however these scoobys be careful the bottom ends do pack up and the gearboxes so dont buy a ****ter to start with .. first thing to do i run it on a dyuno make sure its all sweet before ragging it
