New member - sorting out those knocking struts !!
Morning all
Owned my newage wrx blob (2004) with some Prodrive extras (performance pack, springs and alloys) for the best part of 6 months
Obligatory pics will be comming....
Looking to sort out those rear knocking struts and require some advice/education. I've ruled out coilovers due to the initial outlay and the fact my daily drive consists of a couple of juntions of the M1...hence i dont tend to throw it round corners to often
The car's on about 85k and looking at the paper work i've got i'm wondering if they may be the originals (unlikely as it may seem), regreasing them's beyond my technical ability !!
Scanning the forums, i've decided to go for the KYB ultra SR's below. I've obtained the OE partnumber from subaru (£381 each) and the guys at camskill have linked them up to the struts below. I've read a few posts of guys fitting them to Wrx's as well as STI's so they should fit

For the cost (200 plus del) they seem like a half decent upgrade which works for me...The prodrive springs firm up the ride compaired to the standard springs and I'm lead to belive these struts will stiffen up the rear....reducing body roll.
Alongside the struts is their anything else that would be worth doing at the same time? Top mounts, bushes etc (links would be great)
I'll be buying the kit and gettting a family member to fit them (mechanic and owned his own garage for 20+ years)
Any views on this setup would be appreciated..

If your refering too removing the strut and repacking - Then no i havent.
I've kinda looked at whats involved in taking the whole strut apart and its just way past my ability - Sounds lame i know
Looking at the age of the car/miles i was of the chain of thought that the struts comming to the end of its life.....hence looking for a replacement/upgrade

Ive successfully rebuilt one of my sti rear shocks, here's a thread I did on the MLR when I did the job on my old evo 6. It's essentially the same job for the impreza.

Wish i had the ability/hands on approach to stuff like this.....rebuilding the struts doesnt seem like to much work....Removing the whole unit (Stut/spring) seems like the most effort required.
