i agree the subaru cambelt is one of the easiest to change, i did it on my old 02WRX, dropped the coolant took the rad out and theres shed loads of room to work.

3 hours is shamefull

Just getting this done on the very same car. Subaru charge about £500 quid for a cambelt service. This is WITHOUT the tensioner. From my own research it is wise to have the tensioner (£150) and idler pullies replaced at the same time.
I'm having mine done at a specialist who has quoted me the below:
Cambelt kit £265 (tensioner and pullies)
>>>>Genuine oil filter £ 14.38
>>>>Total fully syntheticOil £45
>>>>Labour £120.
>>>>Brake, lights check etc.
>>>>Total £444.38

About 3 hours they reckon. The garage used to to this for just shy of £300 quid however their experience with tensioners mean they do the full kit.

It's also definitely 50k or 5 years.
