Going twin scroll, worth it?

Going twin scroll, worth it?
For anyone who has gone twinscroll, is it worth it over a vf35 baring in mind how much needs changing for it to work properly? Is it a totally different animal to the single scroll units?

How much does a twin scroll setup cost nowdays? I sat in a Spec c a while back that had the twin scroll setup along with the VF36. I have to admit it was bloody quick! Owner claimed the power to be 380hp with similar torque? Mapped by Powerstation.
I have been thinking about this route but unsure of costs.

by the time you totaled it all up you may as well chuck a 2.5 lump in and get better results

Depending on what you are after in a car, what your budget is and what end power you are after. Then it may or may not be worth it imo. Power delivery is completely different to what you have now. I found it very linear, didnt feel fast untill you looked at the speedo!!! Personally I love the punch from a turbo as it spools up and then kicks in, on the twin scroll I felt I just had a big block under the bonnet if that makes sense, that it just kept on going, no drama. Oh and although they do sound good when on the pedal I just missed that flat four burble.

have you got a power graph?
there was a graph posted on a 2.5 setup that was freakishly fast spooling, on one of the sc series of turbo, be interested to compare them and see the differences.

i now the jap breakers in crawley sell the hole set up for about 1300.00 but i reckon you could get it cheap if you got it bit by bit of poeple of here this is somthing i have thought about

Looking at just shy of 2 grand all in. That's all the parts needed. Fitted. And then mapped to suit it aswell. Just weighting up my options as I have a smoke vf35 fitted at the minute that needs replacing.

I went from UK 2.0 sti blob vf35 to vf37 a few years back, and now changing to 2.5 with a sc46 billet twin-scroll..... If your at the next WMI meet I can tell you all the "goods and bads" about it..

as for all the early spool etc, once you are going and on boost on a single scroll turbo it imo all goes out the window, if your are off boost then drop a gear and its all back on and lets face it most of us are using the car on the road and an occasional track day so it all means nothing, for anyone on a drag strip or competing in a race series then i appreciate it means everything.
horses for courses and all that jazz but for me single scroll all the way, although i would like to try one of litcho's huge twin scroll set-ups to see how the punch is in that

I can say from personal experience that I have not regretted moving from a single scroll setup on my S202 (VF35) to a Spec C (VF36), the acceleration is just so instant on a twin scroll setup.
I've recently had an engine rebuild/uprate, and as soon as the running in period is over I'm going to be fitting an SC46 twin scroll and I'm hoping for a very fast car with plenty of 'punch' throughout the rev range as the VF36 does tend to run out of puff towards the upper limits of the rev range.

I have to admit how the acceleration is instant on a TS. Its like there is no lag, tap bang go!

You are right there is virtually no lag on a twin scroll and it's even better on a VF36 as it spools a lot quicker relatively than a VF37.
