Question Are my shocks knocking?

As title really.

Last couple of weeks my rear suspension has been making a squeaking noise when I go over speed bumps. It started quite quietly but now it's very noisy! Also was driving down a bumpy road on Sunday and I could hear a thump every now and again.

Car is a my03 wrx on standard shocks and springs. I put a 24mm rarb and solid droplinks on at the beginning of April.

Video:

Does that sound like what other people have experienced?

TIA

The problems I had with the shocks on my 06 STi (so not the same setup as yours) sounded different.

Its not so much a squeaking, more like a thud or the obviously titled knock. Its also noticeable when you're at low speeds that the rear of the car seems to "drop" or settle with a knock sound as you stop.

It often feels that the rear isn't properly connected to the front . Its almost like someone has just shunted you at a very low speed when you come to a stop.

The noise never really got louder, just happened more frequently and under differing circumstances until it was almost constant under normal driving.

Turning the stereo off also made it worse

Hope that helps a little.

Squeaking is normally down to worn bushes.

Try jacking up the car and spraying some white lithium grease around the bushes and at the top and bottom of springs and under the boot on the shocks. Solid droplinks will add a little NVH. Have you checked the ARB fittings for tightness?

Thanks for the responses guys. So I think I can rule out replacing the shocks then. I didn't get chance to get under the car on the weekend and start fiddling but will be checking the roll bar and drop link fittings tonight.

Do the bushes look perished and knackered when they have given up or isn't it not something that you can see?

Gareth, the radio was only turned off for the purpose of the video

Is that grease off the shelf stuff from Halfords etc or will I have to order it?

Thanks for all your help so far guys
