Viewed this Type R last weekend. Very clean, everything seems OK except 4th crunches (block change from 2nd) so it needs a 'box refresh. I guess this will be ~£800 so we're presently negotiating money off the £8K asking.
I don't know enough to judge the engine spec, so what do you guys think? I know Paul @ Zen has good respect so I was going on that
Cheers
I'll post up some engine pics
Here I have for sale my JDM 1999 STi Type R Subaru Impreza
61,000 miles (speedo and odometer has been already been converted to read in miles)
MOT December 2011, Tax July 2011
A-Service (and rear brake pads) at 57,500 miles with Roger Clark Motorsport
This is the JDM model that Prodrive used to build the P1 Impreza from 1999 to 2001.
Imported in 2005 by SVA Imports I am the second UK owner.
Standard features include power assisted steering, electric windows, electric folding door mirrors, 5 speed close ratio gear box, DCCD control, auto air conditioning and rear wash wipe.
This particular car comes with a factory fitted A, B and C pillar and roof bar padded roll cage (entry/exit is not obstructed with easy access to rear seats) also fitted is a Type RA roof vent with directional vents in side the cabin.
I also have an English owners manual and all the Japanese paperwork from new. I also have all the paper work and receipts for everything done to this vehicle during its life in the UK.
Since buying this car in April 2007 I have spent a few thousand £'s modifying and up grading various components. With all the work I have had done I have tried to keep the look of the car as close to the original factory design.
Please read through the spec and take a look through the pictures and see what you think...

As a SIDC member and performance car enthusiast this car has always been well looked after with regular services and oil changes, washed and waxed very often and garaged over night.
I have enjoyed 4 happy years of ownership attending car shows and other SIDC organised events and I believe this really is a very special Subaru Impreza. However my bond with the car is now not as strong (...yes I am getting old!) and I feel a need to move on and get something else. So it is time to let some one else enjoy many miles of modified Impreza ownership.
I am asking for £8,000
Thank you for looking.
Please give me a call if you want any further information

some people just don't want big power, and at the end of the day, the owner has peace of mind, its not gonna pop because it isn't silly power, just because you've got a 400bhp engine, doesn't mean you have to make the engine run 400bhp.

I understand the strong safe engine thing but if you were only going for a fairly modest power output then surley there are a number of items on that list which could be knocked of while still retaining a decent level of safety?

He sold this car to his mate for 8K 'as is' - that is with a crunchy 4th gear, basically a 'box refurb job.
Thing that just didn't stoke me was power delivery - for ~330 bhp it just feel that punchy
Still, plenty more fish in the Type R sea - should be sealing the deal on a peach Sunday
