Default Emissions

Hi everyone, my car's got a turbo back exhaust and a cold air induction, it has been re mapped by Duncan at Racedynamix. Would my car pass an mot emissions test? Thank you in advance.

most exhausts are from the turbo back, do you mean you have removed the cat? if so then no, it wont pass an emmisions check, the co and hydrocarbons will be too high

No mate, just had same problem with mine had to fit a cat for the mot. Some garages will do it but will probably fail other things to compensate it. Better fitting a cat then taking her off again afterwards
My blob was only running with the 2nd cat in and passed mot no problem.

Will the original centre section fit a 3" cat back pipe?

manufacturers need three cats to pass emmissions at all load/engine revs. The mot is done light load at idle and 2000 rpm, you dont need much of a cat to pass under those conditions. As long as the Afr is pretty close to 14.7:1, giving as near as lambda1 as possible.

just find a nice MOT tester to put the stick jobbie into the exhaust of another passing car - like a mini or something if they ever got in trouble, just say you bought thr exhaust system after the mot.

just a though as a subaru with a big spoiler and loud exhaust is a prime target for roadside checks

Slipping £30 under the counter usually helps with emissions test.
Not that I do that ofcourse.

Has anyone been subject to one of these?
Not a mate who said he had been subject of one, but personal experience of being stopped and having the decatted exhaust tested?

new mot rules in soon, cat must be fitted at time of mot test if one was fitted as standard ,even if it passes emmisions
should be fun for us testers as that coupled with loads of new testable items as well .cant wait for all the appeals

I think they would wait the ten mins while it started to flash off, you can see the hydrocarbons starting to drop and co dropping, you will know if it has a cat.
