can i take items such as an exhaust into a normal post office to send or do i have to arrange a courier

Depends on its size. There are max sizes applicable, see Royal Mail website for info.

Just as easy using online courier mate. Someone like parcels2go.

No courier will take a full exhaust system unless its dismantled. tried to order one from a scrapy while ago one piece system, they had to cut it in half to send. So in answer to your question yes you can take it to post office in sections in one parcel. courier be easier though
