Simtek or ecutek?
As above, going to be getting my car remapped in the near future. It's just had a full rebuild and it's a my00 Uk turbo. Aside from the mafless running, a/l and l/c is there any benefit to a fast road user like myself of running a simtek or should I just go with an ecutek map?

For me it was also the 2 maps now i can run on 95 ron day to day and don't have to worry where i fill up.
Also there is the small saving every time i fill up, and considering i've covered about 2000 in the last week thats the best part of £100.
Simtec has also transformed the way the car runs it's sooooo much smoother than it was.
And the anti-lag makes me and all my friends smile as i bang poor ususpecting pedestrians
I can be such a **** somtimes

It's ecutek's new thing for newage scoobs that includes all the frills of aftermarket ecu's but retains your oem ecu, or so I believe!

When I switched to Simtek from EcuTek the way the car responded with throttle response and boost holding was like black and white.
So much nicer to drive on Simtek. The idle issues was due to a faulty ICV motor sticking.
I wanted a Syvces but the price put me off and the 9 map option was a over kill for my needs.
On my Simtek I run LC,ALS maps 1 (high boost) and map 2 (low boost). I want to add another x2 maps to the ECU for other driver requirements now.
Simtek v Ecutek...........Simtek.

I am a little biased, but Simtek most definately. Although the original ECU is very powerful, it is also a lengthy process to remap very heavily modified cars running the standard ECU. Don't forget you can get it mapped by Opensource guys too like me. I charge just £225, same results, no messing.
The key point for your car is to run mafless, It essentially raises the limit of air flow that you can push from your engine. The limit on a mafless car electronically is then the map sensor, but this isn't a cap on bhp, like the MAF is.
If you need anymore information, feel free to give me a ring!

simtec is twice the price though. i would expect it to be better. if you're going to pay the guts of 1500 quid inc vat, why not go the whole hog and stick in a motec or solaris

been thinking of changing my motec m400 for a syvecs unit. havent really done my homework yet but i would like to know what the syvecs unit can do that my motec cant. i know motec is a lot more expensive and that there are alot of addons to the ecu that you dont have to pay for with syvecs. they didn't have syvecs 8 years ago when i bought my motec.

For a classic, Simtek over Ecutek no question.
You loose the troublesome maf
You loose the emissions related boost cut nonsense
You get in gear boost compensation
You get two maps options
You can have features like launch control and ALS
The car can be live mapped
They just feel much nicer on Simtek than with Ecutek map. However, if you pay a bit more you can get a Syvecs, which is even more feature laden than Simtek.
On a newage, the Denso ECU is much more capable when ecuted mapped and in most instances people can stick with that and get great results.
If you have a drive by wire car, you can also have RaceRom which gives you the fancy features like launch control etc.... and offers the chance to ditch the maf and run a speed/density map.

Of all the aftermarket ECUs that are plug and play the Simtek is by far the best priced and it's functions suite 99.5% of people after this type of ECU.

the software for syvecs uses a nice windows front end (nice windows, icons, buttons etc) the software for my motec still uses the old DOS text screen and keyboard shortcuts. i think it is my old M48 pro software.
