Default Anyone Recommend A Good Exhaust?

Hey, just recently bought a version 3 sti, its a bit different from what I have had previously which were hawkeye & blob eye.

Anyway the problem I have is the exhaust is just too loud, and I mean it wakes up my full street if I start it at night or early morning!

It was a custom set up and I dont have much information about it.

I was wondering if anybody can recommend another exhaust that would be able to handle the power, its currently running at 360 BHP, but I want something that will still give me that Subaru burble....

Any help/recommendations are highly appreciated. Thank You.

Miltek for me too, running similar power with full 3" with H&S sport cat. Nice sound but not silly loud.

Miltek or Revolution are known as the quiet ones. And both do 3" straight through varieties. I've had both. The revolution one is good value for money and decent quality in my opinion.

I also run a STI V3. When I got it it had a Miltek 3" full system fitted, great quality system but was very quiet and didn't quite fulfill my requirements. I wanted a system that was loud enough to know it was an Impreza but not loud enough to wake the street.
After many phone calls and talking to dealers I finally decided to go with a 3" system that scoobyparts.com do. It's a full tornado system with bellmouth downpipe and 4 inch tail pipe. Sounds fantastic, burbles on tickover (I have gt-spec manifold so would burble even more on a car with standard manifold ), not too loud at cruising speeds, doesn't drone but really comes alive at full chat. Best system I've had on any of my Subaru's.
Tim is a great guy and always willing to have a deal, think I paid £350.
My car is running circa 400bhp.

The straight exit looks cleaner, but the jap-style shows off more of the exhaust back box. Down to taste and preference really.

Do they do a down pipe for new ages? I had a look on their website and only say cat back systems.

I bought my Miltek from here. Really good personal service from them. Sounds like you're after the MSSUB131?

RCM 3'' all the way from the exhaust ports through to the rear bumper, awesome. I have had this system for several years now and have just introduced the team ice rear section in nice white ceramic......

Noisy it is, though with the centre resonator it kind of takes the edge of it....

looks the business from the back now.....

If I change my exhaust, will I have to get the car mapped again to match that exhaust set up?

Since I think I recall previous owner saying something about the remap being done with the exhaust specifically set up for that re-map or something along those lines....

Not sure really, So any help would again be really appreciated....

If it's a custom exhaust, have you considered just getting the silencer changed? It'll be cheaper than going for a complete system.

Hi Guys and Gals,

We are just starting another group buy for the Trackday Friendly System in the group buy section.

Here is the Exhaust in action at TOTB 2011 -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9Cg01HESUA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiH5S...layer_embedded

From the guys who make exhausts for Subaru UK themselves, Cobra Sport Exhausts.

Cobra Sport exhausts have created this system that allows you to drive round a track without sweating as you go past the sound guy with his measuring stick ! This "Trackday Friendly System" is full 3" bore without restrictions and delivers maximum power gains with out the loud sound that makes your ears bleed !

All of our performance exhaust systems are constructed from grade 304 stainless steel and TIG welded throughout, with all pipework being mandrel bent for smoother gas flow. In addition, unrestricted silencers and enlarged pipework allow for a faster engine response and an increase in torque and BHP.

This group buy is for all models form 1994 - 2007.
(Please inform us of the year when putting your name down.)

Cat back system in 3" bore with resonated centre section for £325 Inc Postage.

(Normal RRP £365 + Postage)

We need at least 5 people to commit to get this deal under way.

The exhaust can be seen and heard on our website www.cobrasport.com

Any questions please PM or email me.

Many Thanks

Pete

hi ryan i dont think my exhaust has a silencer its a custom stainless steel exhaust. would a silencer cause any loss in power or would i have to remap the car?

You wouldn't need a remap, by their nature silencers do cause a reduction in power but tbh I doubt you'd notice any difference.
