Default Wrong shocks

When i changed to coilover suspention a couple of weeks back i noticed that the front shocks were the standard pink coulour but the rears were gold. Both front and rears were stamped with KYB.

So am i right in thinking that when these were replaced due to knocking a few years ago they were put on because they were cheaper than genuine subaru items or did subaru fit ones that were not pink after the initial failure?

Cheers many reagrds matt.

KYB make different grades of shock. I have just replaced the fronts on my MR2 roadster for KYB gas units to replace the OE KYB oil filled pr. (one was leaking)

Toyota and Subaru both use KYB as 'oe' shockers (i am sure other jap cars/manufacturers) have them as well) - It may well be they are not the wrong ones so much as a different model.

check this link - this may well help http://www.kyb-europe.com/shocks.html
