Police wreck an EVO
Who saw in the paper (Daily Mail) the story of when a guy in an EVO got stopped and failed (just) a breath test, whilst he was being taken back to the police station, two coppers drove the EVO and absolutely wrecked it!
Did he have the right to insist that it be taken on a trailer? Lets be honest, it was a forgone conclusion that the jumped up Tw**s were going to rag it!
What's the rule on insisting who retreives the car? I certainly would not give permission for such people to drive mine!

I think ultimately if the Police officers driving this car are found to be at fault they should face the full weight of the law upon them. After all if this was one of us as a performance car lover we'd have the book thrown at us from the Police, and made scapegoats of by the press.

£115.00 fine and a minimal number of points on the license of the copper that drove the car. It seems incredibly light given what happened and the speed he must have been doing to cause that outcome.
Why am i left feeling that if it was me or you the penalty would have been a little different ??

i would love to read the accident report, but then i have seen some big accidents from fairly innocuous taps
car rolled in a side street with parked cars either side at low speed - caused when the moving car clipped the turned out wheel of a parked car acting like a ramp

Because any investigation into the crash would hve come to the conclusion that he was speeding which is isn't careless driving but driving without due care and attention leading to an avoidable accident. They were not covered by any insurance to drive the car which is a separate charge regardless off what a senior officer said. The fact a senior officer told them to drive the car reinforces that fact that they think they are above the law.

how can you possibly come to the conclusion he was speeding?
careless driving IS driving without due care
police ARE covered to drive prisoners vehicles/ seized vehicles
