Default Anyone know where I can get these?

Evening all,

I need to fix a number plate to my new bumper. I've seen these small recessed cylinders with a thread inside on a bumper.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

hello mate, I was just looking at your build thread - stunning work by the way mate.

I only need two - not sure about this compression tool. I haven't got one and also the bumper is fixed on and I don't really wanna get it off.

Do i need to have access to the back of the bumper?
How much is one of those tools?

Thanks mate

You need to drill roughly an 11mm hole the compression tool is used to fit the compression cup into the material you want to fasten too, it then pulls the back up similar to a rivet and secures in place.

I can send you some fixings but as mentioned you can pick the tools up cheap il have a look on fleabay for you see if i can see any there reasonably cheap.

Why not just stick the plate on using good double sided tape. That's what I have done and have had no issues. Also saves drilling holes into your bumper.

Cheapest one i could find ,the one we use is heavy duty as in pic but think that would do the job.

Some years ago I did similar for a pair of small spotlights I fixed inside the lower grille recess. The threaded inserts I used were for plasterboard walls, you had to file off two small protruberences that stopped them turning by digging into the plater, then tighten a bolt which pulled the back of the threaded part up behind the bumper skin, and then the bolt could be removed, leaving the threaded part solidly mounted to the bumper.

I think they are called Molly bolts. Here are some: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=...All-Categories

Mine came from B&Q, available in sizes from M5 up to large.
