Default Decent Alloy Wheel Refurb Guide

I've got abit time on my hands next week so going to try and refurb my alloys as they're abit of a mess, paint flaking and a few kerbs... So anyone that does this for a living or has given it a go, advice please.

Also what type of paint to use etc, not looking for perfection and not willing to spend £200-300 getting it done professionally.

Thanks

I did my old 205 GTi wheels a couple of years ago. Here's a full thread with everything I did inc. products/methods used.

Oddly enough I just started doing my wheels this morning, mine are recently powder coated but never fitted as I wasn't overly happy with the colour they came back so I'm getting away lightly on the prep side because they are in new condition.

two different grades of wet and dry

two tins of primer

two tins of paint

two tins of laquer cost me about 52 quid from Halfords this morning.
(Note// these we all the biggest size of cans)

Can't remember mate, says in the thread I think. £80-90 maybe. Bit I'd have saved some if I had the drill bits already and had a Halfrauds trade card/bought else where.

My 53 quid didn't go far, ended up with another 32 quids worth so your 80-90 is about spot on TBH

It doesn't mate. I thought a couple cans of primer, paint and laquer would suffice for 4 15" rims... needed nearly twice that

That's why I wish I'd either bought elsewhere or had a trade card handy.
