Making a road car a track car.
I've been making my car more track specific lately and i'm currently stripping the interior, removing the sound deadening and the ugly bits of seam seal i can get to, i plan to get a cage eventually and so on and hopefully one day compete in some races.
The brothers i work for race Seat race cars, race car shells from factory, never intended for the road, no seal, just paint and seam welds all over, stiff as frick.
I was talking to one and he said basically there is no point in trying to make my car a track car as i won't be able to make the chassic stiff enough compared to race spec shells and I can understand what my boss is saying in a sense but doesn't mean i can't make my car awesome still and stiff as possible.
What are your opinions on making road cars, track? Being that they are full of seal between seams, aren't seam welded...
I've been thinking about it wondering if i'm wasting my time, yeah there is seal all over i can't get to, it's not seam welded and has a layer of under seal on the under side but i'll probably smash it to fudge on track anyway lol.
I'm mad about my car and will carry on making it the best i can for track, but a race spec shell would be amazing.
Thanks

What other stiffening parts have you got?
Also when removing all the sound deadening, did you remove the seal from the seams also? If so did you get it all and how did you do it?
Thanks

A genuine race car is a piece of art. Anything you do to a lesser budget will be compromised in some way.
Do your best within your budget, and enjoy it, BUT be aware of the regulations applied to any race series you contemplate entering into.

Just make sure you're car is safe and sturdy, if you're planning on using the car on the track safety is paramount.
As for turning road cars into track cars, whilst I understand where they're coming from, I only have to look at the cars competing in Time Attack to form my own judgement.
