All this happened in a few seconds before i had a chance to stop
Oh well, new screen time me thinks

try having a rear screen explode at 80mph on a motorway, now thats some scary stuff

double check the screen after its fitted, i had a mare getting mine right :/ they had to come and see it twice after the original fit

As above. Insist on a genuine screen, and watch carefully, checking the bedding of the screen onto the sealant, as if they leave a pinhole it leaks. I found that out the hard way, wet carpets, soaking interior, loads of condensation.

Genuine screen and ask to have the seal replaced at the same time rather than use the old one.

Autoglass took about 5 attempts / return visits to sort out the windscreen on a 330d we owned a few years ago ... didn't even use a genuine BMW screen to begin with

Yes make sure it is a genuine subaru screen they use as I too have had windscreen repair places use cheap knock offs on other model cars - and if possible avoid national windscreens - bloody awful.

I don't suppose you were passing a council lawn mower when this happened were you? It happened to me a few years ago and a quick phone call to the council and they paid for the replacement screen.

A lot of insurance companys will not pay for Genuine glass due to the price difference between genuine and patent parts. If you insist on genuine parts you may be required to pay the price difference.

Same here, NONE genuine screen in my 03 WRX. So much to a visible VIN! *****. Try and get a genuine but I think you will struggle to get one.

Now that is a good thing as i have one in my Sierra and my escort had one, maybe its just a ford thing to have a hfs plus there is the wiring and switches so if its not a subaru option then it wont be an option sadly

Thats interesting and i dought my Insurance will wanna pick that bill up even if i do have to pay the Windscreen excess.
Food for thought though and i'm not sure a fitter will want to fit a screen thats not from his company

You can supply your own glass and just pay the labour charge to fit it.

Changed the wife's rear screen from Uk to JDM (wanted the hole in it for the rear wash wipe) I supplied the screen and the local mobile fitter was more than happy to charge me £30 for remove and fit. Did it right first time too

Thought id better update you lot as its bin a couple of weeks since now.
Anyway, I took on board all the above coments and when i spoke to Chris@A-Plan and said i would like a Genuine Screen his reply was "No problem just let the screen company know" and a couple of minutes later i get a call from the poeple they use.He said to me that he wanted to come out straight away to which i said "hold on mate i have a couple of questions" which were
1/ I wanted a Genuine Screen
2/ I wanted it done on a Saturday
Not a problem was the reply but give us a couple of days to get the sereen in and see what fitter wanted to work on a Saturday.
Anyway, all was sorted and i must say i was very impressed with the service to which i had to pay NO exta on the screen being Genuine. Speeking to the fitter, he said that unlike all the big Natioal Companys, he like all on his firm are NOT on a "price" so can take the proper time and care to fit the screen properly and boy did he do a good job even hoovering up inside the places you cant normaly get to with the screen in etc
Speeking to the fitter i said about posting up on Scoobynet and he was all for it saying it would be good as everyone just seams to use the National companys and maybe dont know that there is companys like his that do the service that they do
So i must Big up Chris@A-plan and AutoWindscreens for the fantastic service.
Highly recomended Screen Company gets my thumbs up as does A-Plan
Cheers Guys
Here's a couple of pics

Ian
