Default can you still get a 03 impreza body shape new?

i was talking to a neighbour of mine who owns a impreza 03 model and she said you can still get that model new? you have to just get it imported or something like that? i know her subaru is from Malta i think she said. Anybody know anything about this?

i would kill for an 03 model, blue and gold *drool*

Sure someone will be along to give the real answer but personally I wouldn't want a so called 'new' 03 car that has been sat god knows where not being used etc for 8 plus years? They would have stopped production with Hawk/Hatch/Saloon etc.

A few cars though are Maltese imports etc but still sure you would be hard pushed to find an unregistered one nowadays and if you did I point you to my above.

If im wrong im wrong just dont see the logic of producing an outdated car.

Oh and welcome to SN!

Don't be silly. These cars were manufactured from autumn 2002 to late spring 2005. The 03 Blobeye came with Viscous centre diff, suretrac rear diff. Very nice bit of kit and I loved mine, despite losing it on black ice. RIP.

The 04 looked the same but had a few detailed chassis changes and the 05 again looked similar but had the later interior and a wider track rear with modified bumper, arch extensions and other stuf, most importantly new stronger hubs with 114.5pcd wheels.

There were the best of the bunch IMHO as the cars had Helical front diffs and DCCD fitted too (usually on UK models).

You might get a low mileage one abroard but new? doubt it. Loads were imported in 2003-6 and as the Impreza has gone through two different model changes since then, stock that old must have been moved on.

If you like that model, look here or on pistonheads and find a low mileage TYPE UK one for reasonable money. Messing about importing nowadays is just wasting money.

Why would he keep it 6 years and do no miles? It was never going to be a classic and make a mint was it?

It's not an 03 car he wants specifically, it's the 03 model. He wants it because as he said the new model is horrid. Simple realy!

No F1 - its not that simple really.

Would you buy a 6 - 8 year old brand new car?
Something which probably hasn't even been turned over.
I know for a fact that I definately wouldn't.

I think the OP is saying that you can get "new" ones (or was asking that) as in- not been sat about since manufacture but still being produced.....

Could be wrong- that was what I thought. Like the Classic VW Beetles they still make in Mexico type thing.

See allsop's comment for what the OP was getting at. As ever you have missed the point!

Tell you what F1, you go off to Subaru and ask them to make you a 2003MY WRX STI.

Bt of advice, give Moley a call directly (number is in insurance section). He's a very busy man due to his usual outstanding prices so can easily have 100 odd pm's backed up to reply to.

FFS what is your problem with this?

VW still make a Mk1 Golf in Africa, they still make the old Beetle in Mexico. Honda still make some of their older models for other markets. All the OP is asking is that he heard for some market somewhere they are still making the 03 shape Impreza and is that true ... turns out they aren't, but what is so strange about the question given that other manufacturers do it?

As an aside given the heap of crap they turn out now I bet plenty of people have, it was a better car!

You should go and ask them to make you a new classic so you can get rid of that rusted up shed you drive.
They you can continue living in the past

Please just stop the pointless argument, F1 was right, i only wanted a blob eye model, not specifically 'built/driven since' 2003, i only came here to get clarification after my neighbour said you can get low milage/new blob eyes as a maltease import. As F1 said, i want an blob eye as these are my favourite impreza models, i would get a hawkeye if i had to but i just hate with a passion the new impreza 2011 shape or hatchbacks, imo they sold out to grab more attention to the everyday car user, and they dont do WR blue anymore...
