Ok guys not a car maniac so i just really wanted a steer on how an Exhaust can make your car have more BHP

ok so my idea is its there to get rid of fumes ok, and putting a diff one on makes it go faster but how ? do they get rid of fumes faster ? if so how does that make the car quicker.

As some of you are aware the 320R is out currently with the 340R coming soon,

Subaru have developed a new exhaust with somebody which keeps it in warrenty thus with the 320R reamp and that you get 340.

Some of the guys on here have the 320R with after market exhausts and are pushing 347 ish bhp with the normal 320R map

try blowing through a hosepipe with a mouth full of air, then a straw with mouthful of air. Which is faster?
Thats the answer in simplied terms but the smaller pipe causes back pressure which hinders it.

And on th other side of the coin, removing all cats and having a huge bore means no backpressure whatsoever, which will increase spool time...

ahhhh thanks guys, so removing the CAT does this mean MOT failures ? or higher imissions etc ?

Removing the restriction of the catalyst adds gas flow and improves throttle response, if you have a friendly MOT tester/dealer... as your warranty will go out the window if they can prove you've messed with it.

An aftermarket re-map will probably get you more power but the warranty will be out of the window!

I don,t care for this friendly MOT chap route...Yes go full decat and remap by all means. More power/response. When the MOT is due refit the cat pipe and exchange back afterwards. Don,t expect some MOT tester to risk his job
