Check Engine

Just over a week ago the check engine light came on , on my RB5 as I was cruising at a steady speed up a steepish hill on the M65, I pulled over switched the car off and back on and the light had gone out. A little worried I set off again. I exited the motorway and as I was breaking for the roundabout the light came on again, I gave the engine a quick blip to see if it stopped at the magic 4500rpm, instead the light went out. Previously that day I had added some octane booster and some fuel system cleaner to a 1/4 of a tank of petrol, I know I know not clever!! Any way I took the car to my dealers the next day who plugged in the select monitor thing and said that no faults had been displayed, so they thought it was maybe due to the stuff I'd put through the tank. I took the car home and reset the ECU.
Car behaved fine till Sunday when the check engine light came on again, unbelievably it was the same piece of motorway to within a yard of where it happened the first time under similar conditions i.e steady speed, car is now booked in for a thorough once over on Thursday morning, but is currently behaving well!!!
Any idea's anyone?

Mine did this a few weeks ago. Light came on, stopped in a service station. Started the engine and carried on my journey only for the bloody thing to come on again. Again I stopped and turned the engine off and since then the light hasn't come on again.
Spoke to my dealer and they said that sometimes this happens if you've just filled up the tank, which I had. Apparantly it's the lamda(sp?) sensor trying to sort out the correct mixture, don't know how accurate this is. Still, best to get it looked at......

You probably sent the Lamnda sensor out of its limits of operation ...... maybe?
Something I learned a few years ago - NEVER, EVER add anything to the tank OR oil OR anywhere else for that matter .... it, without fail, gave me trouble everytime - oil flush is just the worst .. moves all the cr4p around into places you dont want it!

Cheers Pete thats what I was hoping some one would say hearing it from 2 separate sources has made me feel somewhat better? Only thing is why did it do it the second time? The stuff moving round the bottom of the tank maybe?

oil flush and injector cleaner, both great products,
a clean engine stays clean with engine flush.
injector cleaner if doubled up doses should just be a cruising petrol tank IMO
