Falken FK452s.. Not impressed!
After taking a bit of advice from a few members in here on new tyres and doing my own research I pitched for Falken FK452s.. Seemed a real bargain and recieved good reviews for being a good blend of sticky and long wearing.. well, what a fooking mistake that was!! Replaced the worn rears on my wagon last week with two new 452s so now running those on rear on conti contact 2s on front.. decided to press on a bit on a run out today and the sodding thing is over steering everywhere! Stopped and checked pressures straight away, all the same.. totally gutted as before i could throw it into most corners with confidence but now it feels like a rear wheel drive.. replacing the front two with the same Falkens next month and an attempt to get the handling back with matching tyres.. Anyone else found any issues with these tyres?

i have them on the front & not had any issues but i do not push it as i do not trust the blinkin marangonis that are on the rear that i'm waiting to wear out!
but the falkens have been on many other cars & i have always found them to be good especially for the money..... but they do wear fast as they are (i think) more of a fast dry road tyre than an all weather & long lasting.
looking at uniroyal rainsports 2 next though, heard good reports on them.

Oh that's interesting as I was just going to be replacing my 2 fronts for Falkens. Currently running Eagle F1s (v pattern) all round.
Any comparisons on the Falkens and Vredestein Sessantas?

So swap them F to R and report back...

P.S. Have you done enough miles to scrub the release agent off them ?

I've got them all round on my M3 and I've found them to wear quickly on the rears (a set in 6k miles!) and when accelerating the DSC is constantly kicking in where it's fighting for traction. They are cheap though so you get what you pay for. I had them on my old Focus ST225 and the worn out Fulda's I removed had more grip than a lightly worn set of 452's

I think I might swap fronts with rears this weekend and see if it understeers.. Was going to give the wheels and calipers a good clean so may as well swap over at same time.. I don't know if the front Conti's are just gripping better than the Falkens which are letting go ealier.. I'm not talking about 4wd drifting here and full opposite lock, just to be clear.. But the thing is out of line now and absolutely wasn't before... What pressures are you guys running out of interest?

I would expect that to be plenty of miles, BUT it has been wet and that always makes things greasy after a dry spell.
Contis are also a quality brand tyre, I expect they were very expensive new, compared to the Falkens ?

Different tyre brands are always going to behave differently - great argument for changing all 4 at once, but that probably doesn't help you at the moment You can probably dial some of this out by fiddling with tyre pressures.

Sonic93 do you ever use the DCCD?
I've found when pushing up the dial the understeer does seem to be lessened

Think I will continue with re070 on mine as these are not that expensive and they are superb in all but damp roads but then there is usually a lot if grease about then so no tyre would be significantly better

39psi front & rear!? once they've warmed up, that'll be well into the 40s.....
drop the pressures a bit, my falkens have been fantastic for the money, on both road and track!

pressures sound too high and i have found the impreza much less stable than any other car on mismatched tyres
