Question

Thinking of having some mods done to my car.
SO far these are my thoughts.

Unichip (Like the fact it is easily removed)
HKS EVC1V boost controller
Magnex Backbox (oval or round? not sure)
Magnex mid section with resonator (don't want it too loud)

Pumpsteer done as I now have SO2's all round (wow what a difference).

I live in Basingstoke so loads of roundabouts and straight dual caridgways in between.

Thinking of powerstation to do the lot.

Any advice from you all would be most welcome.

Thanks

Scoobs

Hi Scoobs

I've got the Unichip by PS exellent bit of kit for the money. I dont know about the HKS boost controller, I have an electronic boost controller which PS fitted with the Unichip. (so I can't fiddle with it ) Exhaust wise Magnex seems to be good quality, I have Scoobysport front and back with Magnex middle, which made quite a difference from the straight through bit I had before.
I also have the bump steer with ALK & SO2 which is awesome. Do you have a UK or imported car?

Cheers
Andy

Andy,
is it a UK model, what year is your car and have you had it on a rolling road, what were the results? as i am interested in unichip myself.any r/r graphs that you could post and do you have a Knock/Lambda Link fitted to monitor things?

scoobs,
i have a Magnex straight through centre and back box(6x4),make sure you get a silenced section as my car is loud.

I have an STI 3, the main reason for the Unichip was paranoia over detonation, I also have Broquet, water injection (not spray)and use OB for trackdays. When I had the chip and boost controller fitted the car was otherwise standard. I can't remember what the power readings were, somewhere about 270BHP I think. However the difference in flexibility and torquewas immediately noticeable on the drive home, I kept trying to change up to fifth when I was already in fifth I don't know what it would do for a UK car as presumably you will be closer mapped to 97Ron than an import.

Cheers

Question

Andy
Did you have the HKS EVC1V boost controller installed. And if so do you consider it worth the extra over the standar unichip one?

Scoobs,

I would say forget the power stuff and concentrate first on the handling - the standard Scoob has more power than you can use anywhere except in a straight line. There's loads you can do to improve the handling for not a lot of money which will be well spent.

Once you've done what you can with the handling, then go for more power....

Just my op...

IMHO too

Brakes first, then suspension/handling.

Works for me

My mods on a UK MY00 include:

Eibach Springs
ALK + uprated sway bar links
Uprated rear ARB
Bumpsteer mod
17" wheels and SO2's
AP 4 pots (best mod to date IMO)
T75 downpipe + mid section, SS backbox
Unichip
HKS EVC IV Boost controller
Aquamist Water Injection
Knock Link

Very happy with the results and would recomend Power Station anytime.

Next on the list a VF23

I'm not far from you if you want a spin

Rich.

Scoobs,

Its just the standard Unichip one. Got to agree with the brakes & suspension, though you can spend loads if you go the Leda / Brembo route, not much change from 4000 quid. I've just gine for Tarox front brake upgrade and debump / ALK which is fine for my road and track use.

Cool

Rich_R,
that seems a good list of mods.,just wondering if the Knock Link ever shows anything to worry about especially if your cars ever been on a track, also what boost are you running,do you use octane boost?.
i am considering chipping my MY00 as my torque curve is all over the place,i have looked on the Dyno pages but have not seen a MY00 other than a Linked car so is there any chance of posting your results/graph.more interested in graph to see curves as r/r figures vary so much.
do you recommend water injection over an oil cooler,if so what sort of cash is in them fitted.

cheers

Can't really comment on all your mods, but powerstation are the " bees knees ".
