Hey guys,

Cars booked in for monday to have decat up/down pipes vf43 turbo, sti top mount, sti pinks, walbro fuel pump etc. all mapped up on the road. I currently have a decat vortex centre section and vortex back box.

I get quite a few cheeky pops and bangs now and was wondering if there would be more with the full decat?

Also a little concerened about overall volume when it's decatted, will it be MUCH louder? will it be raspy?

Oh and any estimates on bhp with all above mods and just a panel filter fitted to a bugeye wrx ppp?

 

ask your mapper to map the pops and bangs in. Some do everytime you lift off the throttle, or some do when you slightly rest your foot on the throttle. I have the later and its great as you control when you want it to bang as some may think if it happens everytime you come off the throttle it may get a bit tiresome

 

mine only does it from 3rd to 4th which is nice. mine is full decat .. dump valve makes it pop and bang aswell

 

i have the same system as yourself but a heat wrapped decat.The car is quite loud but not unbearable. It currently pops and bangs in 4th,3rd & 2nd whenever i ease off the throttle.

 

i drove an sti without cats and it was loud as hell!

 

mine is full decat with scoobyworld racebox on and is no where near as loud as similar cars with japsepeed boxes on......... i would hve thought u gotta be lookin at 330-340bhp

 

Got a Hayward & Scott one, didnt make a huge difference to mine, get the pops and bangs but no noticable change in power and its still quite quiet but i think thats down to the back box being too small x

 

you should see a noticeable diffrence in power/torque, full decat over what you have now will be louder and more raw, pops and bangs is something you should speak to your mapper about. as for your concerns over volume, i find that i drive accordigly tbh as when you open it up ITS GOING TO BE LOUD. look forward to it lol.

 

A full decat doesn't have to be much louder than standard, fit a centre resonator and prodrive back box.

 

has anyone gone from vortex with ppp sports cat to a full decat, and whats the difference in noise, is it much louder or just a subtle difference? as I often leave the house at 4am and I don't think the neighbours would tolerate mega loud. also would it be ok for track use?

 

I have a 3" turboback decatted Cobra system and simply couldnt have it if I had to leave the house at 4am every morning unless I pushed it to the end of the road before starting it up. The double glazing in my house vibrates as I reverse out of the drive, Im sure my neighbours are similar so normally stick to driving it during woken hours!
Once warmed up it isnt "just" as bad but still, if I was an 80 year old man with my grumpy pants on, Id not be happy.
