Default Mapping........

Hi guys, just after a bit of advice. Just finished my engine re-build and now the bloody thing needs mapping (like i havent spent enough )

Who should i use or who have you guys used that is good? Ive heard a lot of horror stories about mapping so i would rather use someone well known if you get what i mean. It should make 380bhp (ish) if this helps? Not running silly power. Im in Surrey btw

Any help/advice/numbers would be greatly appreciated

If it's just been rebuilt to a different spec than OEM then You need a running in map........try Duncan at Racedynamix (other mappers are available LOL)

Hello Mate i have just used Bob Rawle he is a top bloke and will work hard to make sure your motor is running at its best. When i arrived at his place he checked over the whole engine. He replaced aload of pipe work that some one had played with and messed up trying to make the turbo boost more free of charge. Then chatted to me about what i want.
I know have a two stage map so one runs a low boost so when i am just driving about town i use that. Then with a flick of a switch i hit the high boost mode and go nuts which i love. The car feels so much better now its night and day the change in it is that great. His web site is BRDevelopments

Hi Kirstie

if its OE ECU on classic you will need EcuTek mapper and i would recommend Bob Rawle or Simon@JGM.

Hope so will be good one and good luck.

What year car is it mate? You may need a new ECU aswell. Be looking at around £1500 then.

Kirstie's car is on an early 4 plug ECU so that option is out.

There are the normal suspects for mapping, Rich from FB tuning, Duncan from racedynamix, Simon from jollygreenmonster, Bob Rawle to name a few

Yes i know, but still need the EcuTek mapper, because you can't map Classic via OS.

Second option is Apexi,SimTek,Syvecs,Link,Gems etc.

If it is an early 4 plug ecu then ecutek cant be used either Jura

As Simon says Simtek is a good option for that sort of power, or alternatively the ESL daughterboard which is also mafless and will be able to run twin maps in the next few weeks.

Agree with JGM above, Simtek is really the best option or an Apexi with boost control ideally AVCR or something boost duty rev dependent.

I was going to say find out why it blew up first, but, if I'm reading it correct, a 2.5 in an early classic on the OEM ECU is most likely an accident waiting to happen.

The EJ20 blew up as piston no.4 melted

Yes this is true hence trying to sort out the new ECU and getting it mapped

What year/ version is your car, as it'll depend on which route you can go with your new ecu/ map, and who can map it etc.

It'll be immense whichever route you take, there's enough mappers locally to you to be able to pick a good one

Umm its confusing, the Shell is a uk 2000 the running gear and manifold, cranks etc are M reg import and the bottom end, pistons etc are 07 EJ25 from a hawkeye (I think this is right!)

I'm assuming you mean heads?

Start saving for a gear box, a healthy 2.5 will destroy a TY752 box.

Once you are on the slippery slope of modifying, there is no return. It will cost your 1000s in search of more power, reliability.

Your wife, girlfriend will leave you. You'll have sell your house and become a criminal to fund your subaru addiction.
