Default PPP - how to tell?

Hi folks, the hawkeye 2007 STI I bought this week was advertised as a PPP. Without the certificate though, how do I tell?

Cheers

If it has a boost gauge it will read around 1.3bar rather than 0.9bar. Should have Prodrive cat back and blue prodrive intercooler hose also.

Hope this helps,

Graham

Mmmm it's had full Milltek put on so can't check the exhaust. No boost guage either. Will need to check for the intercooler hose - the only one I recall seeing is a red one on the underside.

Yes my bad, STI ppp has red STI hose not prodrive version. Only other way really is to check boost.

Ring Subaru and give them the reg they should be able to tell you if it's had it fitted. Otherwise look for the blue intercooler hose.

I'll get a photo of some hoses tomorrow and I'll get the forum opinion on what I've got. I'm waiting on my bluetooth OBD plug being delivered and then I should be able to check the boost with Torque.

Which pillar would have the sticker? You mean the A pillar next to the windscreen?
So far I haven't seen a damn thing to refer to prodrive and I get the feeling I've been bumped.

You could get someone to read the map on the car see what's on it but If it has a full milltek and sportcat will need either checking over or mapping to make sure safe, may have already been done but with the 2.5 known issues I would get it checked out if not sure

I take it you've looked through your paperwork that came with the car to see if there's a prodrive certificate of fitment amongst it?

Sticker on the ECU best bet for checking and here is the list for PPP from prodrive.

http://www.prodrive.com/up/06MY%20STi%20PPP.pdf

Thats for 06-07 MY cars

No mention of Y pipe for intercooler prob because STI has a good spec one on it already....

Hope that helps mate

Crap. It does 0.9 bar of boost, and no certificate of fitment or stickers. Now I need to decide whether or not to demand compensation or send the car back.

Don't worry about it mate, not the end of the world. As long as the car is a good one that's all that matters! Once the modding bug hits, all trace of PPP vanishes anyway

From what I see online I could be running a much better remap on the standard turbo anyway, without any other mods. I can't see me keeping this thing standard.

£300 remap, will get you PPP power no problem and more!

Give me a bell if you need it sorting.

Just a bit gutted that I paid extra for this thing because I thought it was PPP. I'm only now getting to grips with Subaru knowledge

PPP usually adds £300 -£500 to the price (despite being around £1600 OEM).........I'd ask the garage for £300 as a goodwill gesture and that will near as damn it pay for an opensource map for the car

I had a PPP put on from new when I bought my Spec D (06 STi) and it does not have a blue hose. I believe the kit for this car comprises remapped ecu, fuel pump and rear exhaust box.

I have to say that the PPP on this car makes driving smoothly in low gears nigh on impossible and only realised how bad it was recently when I had to have the car mapped by JGM due to new head gasket, forged pistons and different turbo. I can now drive the car smoothly

Yes the drive-by-wire throttle map on the Prodrive models is very sensitive! Awful!
