Default classic becoming a classic?

Do you think that the classic 2 doors will ever be as sought after as a cosworth ( escort, sierra, rs 500 )?????

I don't know maybe another 10 years or so an unmodded v1 Sti or wrx low mileage would be a nice piece of history to have and then maybe prices would creep back up but never like 22b prices

I think the classic will just look at the escorts mk1/2's they where common back in there day. Now even the four door shells fetch good money. Will take a fair few years for the classic impreza tho

when the chavs have finished killing them with dodgy graphics and fake roof vents,
the remaining unmolested 2 doors like the rb5 and p1 would be worth a premium in good condition.
the 22b is already probably the most sought after classic version already

All classics will be collectors cars in the future the youngest is now 10/11 years old
And the oldest is now 18/19 years old
It will take 5-10 years to many that is left will be broken up ,wrote off or scrapped and the good unmolested examples will fetch decent prices just like the RS

The future is in detailing and renovating your classic to make it last

The man that can develop rear arch replacements will make a fortune from it

I have all my invoices and paperwork for the last 11 years since I got mine new but worrying about the mileage as it's just turned 59k !!

Roll on NBO 20 it will be great to see them coming to the show on trailers with brand new Tyres and stickers on them and detailed to the maximum

I will be there with my classic and of course my up todate modle as well
Will you ???

imho cars are for driving and giving you a buzz, am not into the whole detailing and transporter stuff. dont get me wrong i like my car to be nice n shiny and have spent 3 days cleaning, polishing and waxing but thats as committed as i get.

needles to say my 2 door will never be a classic

This. I look after my impreza but enjoy driving it like it was built for. Im not one for tucking it away in a heated garage and only using it 2 days a year

Can't see me ever selling my Type R, never know it may become a classic, trying to keep the body and interior as standard as possible. Looking at a place with a massive workshop down the end of the garden, plenty of place to store it along with a carb'd SRAD

Wouldn't ever store a classic Impreza away but if kept clean and serviced and generally looked after nothin to stop classics being around for quite a while yet without putting them in bubbles etc etc

Nothing wrong with putting a car in a bubble.

If you have another outside the door to enjoy.

Its just an ornament as in collection item. Same as a painting worth 20k or watever..

Since 22B's are already there I can only see P1's and Type R's becoming classics.

it seems to me that the speed that imprezas are being broken up for spares or crashed they are on their way to becoming classics , in my local area there used to be maybe 20 classics around but people have moved onto the newer stuff and the classics are becoming rarer to see driving around .
the type r in particular , i bought mine 2 years ago for just over £4500 and the price hasnt really moved very much at all , the advertised prices that is .
so i believe they are going the way of the escorts and quickly .

A car doesn't have to be worth a lot of money to be a classic.

All "classic" Imprezas with a turbo will be true classics at some point, due to the rally pedigree and genuine desireability while they were in plentiful supply.

If I thought a mint Type r would be worth £15k in 10 years, I'd buy it. Same as any risky investment though - impossible to predict.

Surely its supply vs demand .. once the number of them drops, the demand will pass the stock and prices will shoot up ..

I've thought and said this for some time now, and yeh the really perfect examples will be worth a mint in 10yrs, but your not so nice ones will still fetch a fair few quid just because they will be rare, at the moment any old battered escort is worth a mint, so by the time scoobs start to get to 25/30yrs old you will see battered chaved up shells going for 5k+ and anything decent will be 15+ better than sticking 5k in the bank and waiting 10yrs for the interest at 2%.

I for one will be hanging on to mine, even though it's not as perfect as some it not a dog and will be better than selling it for 4k ish or breaking it for 6k.

And when an enthusiast gets there hands on a classic they usually fit uprated modern parts and do a full restoration job anyway so milage and condition is not a major issue for those that want to enjoy their cars so fill your boots i say

A guy i work with is buing a P1 for exactly this reason ..... the prices are soon to turn!

Even a subaru brat in the right condition is starting to appreciate!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-MV-...item415ce926a2

I missed out on a chevette HS for £1500 when i left uni and have regretted it ever since, id be looking at £10k+ for a good one now!

P1's and RA's are a sound investment if your looking at keeping it for a fair few years i think!

I agree although I would as I own a P1.
I only say this as the low prices that some lovely P1's have recently sold for can only mean the prices will rise when the economy sorts it's self out.

Would love a P1 or 22B. Seem's type-r's are a bit easier to find at the moment than the other two but in good condition not so much.
