If it was a front mount yes but in this case its not necessary.

Will need a remap to benefit from the larger IC, but it isnt needed straight away.

Okay! Thanks I'd like everything fitted then get a map straight away saves getting it mapped more than once

Yes as the STi top mount has different characteristics in terms of cooling and flow it will definitely need a remap to suite, or at the very least a check over on a dyno or such like.

Give me a shout if I can be of assistance.

Your OEM TD04 turbo on the blob WRX will not achieve the 300 plus BHP figure, even with the decreased pressure drop and more efficient cooling of the STi TMIC. Fit if you like and accept the reduced risk of det but I'd save the cost and time mapping until you have changed a few more bits

Agreed with Midlife mass up your bits and then fit them all the week before mapping sorted!

Missed the bit about going for 300+. As Shaun has said it isn't realistically achievable on the TD04, most common upgrade for these cars is the injectors, VF35 and an STI top mount along with a decat up and usually down pipe. That will see you to 320-340bhp very nicely. An upgraded pump is highly recommended for piece of mind.

Strangely enough Graham that's what I did to my Bug about 10 years ago (but with a Front entry TD05 from Andy Forrest)........cracking car, blistering place, suited the 5 gear ratio's great but more importantly I never thought it was going to break or kill me in revenge .

I've now got nearly 100 BHP more, listen for every noise and when it's working properly and on song it needs the flimsiest excuse to try and become an off roader LOL Sometime I hark back

It took you 10 years to get another 100bhp? That's quite a poor bhp to year ratio!

Was the TD05 not a little laggy? We're contemplating trying that on the test mule.

Hi Graham

I've been running 400 odd BHP for a number of years now, baby Dominic arriving seemed to curtail my hobby smewhat LOL

I didn't find the TD05 16G laggy, I ran it with Harvey ported headers and a full de-cat (inluding getting rid of the up-pipe cat). OK it's a bit old school but a tough critter

JamieJerkowic.......mapping your car would be opensource "bread and butter" if you wished to keep the cost down
