Default Fuel Pressure Regulator

Whats the benefits of these, when should you have 1, and what difference do they make? Currently running a 2005 sti with md321h, hyperflow fmic, 650cc injectors, k&n caik, 2.5 bottom end, and autronics ecu. Running around 370bhp but booked in for a tweak on the 15th to sort a few issues. I know the cars capable of over 400bhp as was mapped to 420 on 2ltr bottom end. Would it be worth investing in a regulator, if so which 1 and what difference would it make? all comments greatly appreciated

Subaru have shamed themselves with some cheap and nasty stuff over the years but some things they have got right......like the newage induction and STi TMIC side of things and also the OEM FPR which is pretty good but I would think about changing around the 380-400 BHP side of things as you need to have a a lot of fuel being thrown into the cylinders to burn and cool

The regulator is purely for making sure the fuel pressure is regulated to the preset pressure, (usually 43 psi) and the pressure is increased in relation to your boost pressure. I.e if you have a static pressure of 40psi with the vacuum pipe off the regulator, then with the vacuum pipe on and boosting to 1 bar you should see 1 bar extra of fuel pressure, i.e 54.5psi.

The standard reg works very well and to be honest there is no need to change it unless it stops working, or the injectors run out of 'headroom' or duty. You can then just use an adjustable regulator to up the pressure to supply the extra fuel you need. With 650cc injectors you shouldn't need the adjustable reg and besides, a decent fuel labs reg will cost you nearly £200, which isn't worth it without the need for it.
