Default Newbie saying hi

We've had our 2004 STi Type UK for just over a week now and have not been able to wipe the smile of our faces since
It's been a couple of years since we've had a car like the Subaru. I've had Honda Type R's in the past and the girlfreind had a 350z but all had to go when littl'un arrived. Had to put up with a Passat TDi(good car for what it's used for, big & up to 60mpg) & a 2000 1.3 fiesta. Kept the Passat but the fiesta had to go.
Get some pics up soon as it's had a good clean.
Got a couple of issues - knocking on the rear suspension (read lots of posts on here regarding)
It's got to go back to get a few dents removed.
I'm also reading the general view of dump valves (VTA) is don't bother as they can be bad for the engine. Ours has a Turbosmart (VTA) adjustable one, I always thought they we're good but the last turbo car I had was a Rover 220 coupe & I was a lot younger & wanted the woooosh. But if can lead to problems with the engine then an OEM or Forge recirc one is the way I'll go.
Anyway hello

Welcome mate!!!
I have an STI too, when i bought mine a little under two years ago it had knocking rear shocks too, because they where under warranty i had to put OEM shocks back on,not a good idea if you have the option.I have knocking on my front now too, hoping its not the shocks this time!!!
Other than the shi#ty suspension, ive enjoyed every minute of it.
Let the modding begin!

welcome to the site . There are a few on here who will lynch you for the mere mention of a vta but personally I'd say if you want one then go for it . I had one on my first scoob, it wasn't big or clever but it did put a smile on my face

Cheers for the welcome
I didn't want to start another debate over DV's as I've seen & read on here plenty of debates over their use. Just want whats best for the engine.
The jump from a 1.3 Fiesta to an STi was a big one but one I've waited for 2 years but well worth the wait.
I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of questions along the way.

Hello and welcome .

It never ceases to amaze me, though, when people think that because they have kids the performance car has to go. I got my Scooby (after other quick cars) when my 4th daughter was only a few months old !
Four doors a big boot and goes like f*ck perfik!

Enjoy your re-entry to cool car ownership!
