Default Newbie to site, some advice would be great!!

Bought a W reg wagon 200o turbo, paid well cheap for it, shoot me down but i bought it wit no history. The car runs nice an pulls nice like a subs should. It dont smoke, it has a bigger intercooler with the later triangle base dump valve, the turbo looks newer than it should so i imagine its been replaced. Where should i start on the road to gettin it real nice, Apologies if i have left out any crucial details. All comments taken on board.

Thanks guys

Craig.

Not sure what you mean fella when you say 'had over the clock out of it'. Do you mean the speedo reading was off the clock ?? What speed does the clock go up to ?

then id get the obvious downpipe, exhaust and map...as a start depending on how deep your pockets go lol

At the mo the most tech spec i have on the car is,

Larger intercooler(top mounted),

I replaced the well lane dump valve with a forge jobbie an original subaru £13 GASKET(at least dick turpin had the decency to wear a mask!!!)

It has a pipercross induction kit

The exhaust is quite large but cannot locate manufacturer, this is stainless steel.

im unsure about the downpipe(what am i lookin for??)

the engine looks clean

my ac belt has broken( i want to remove the ac as a whole to shed a few pounds, where is the evap?? under dash??)

ive also read an article about connecting the black and green plugs for an ecu reset cos it learns how you drive???

Its got 17 in OZ alloys(unsure of model name).

Tar!

If it were me, with those mods, and your suspicion about the maybe new turbo, I'd be seeing a specialist and trying to find out EXACTLY what has been done, then whether or not the map has been tweaked for any mods.

The Pipercross is a waste of money and probably breathes worse than your old panel filter did

Is the new dumpvalve a recirculating type, as the car had when it was built, or a VTA? If it's the latter, you could lose that too and go back to a recirc.

Always keep in mind that the car is OLD, and ESPECIALLY that engine repairs, should they become necessary, are VERY expensive

Yes it is vta(take it u mean vent to atmosphere??) But i kind of like the noise!!! i did have my reservations about the pipercross, ive heard its better to swap back to the old box with a good panel in there but thought it was hearsay!! so tar for that bud! Bigsinky yes they are them ones, are they super Ts??

you sure about that fella ,as i take it that its a uk turbo,W reg (model year 2000) with white dials, if so it should read 160 mph on your speedo,as a max .
You might want to Mark at Thwaites developments a call, very good on price and he knows about scoobs.

I would guess your speedo is out mate, as the STD car 11yrs ago would do 143 mph max I got a true 145 mph out of mine with prodrive ecu and decatdec exhaust, before changing turbo for more midrange grunt. You would need some half decent mods and a awesome turbo to still be accelerating at 140 mph+ like my mates car in the other post on this page.

agree with above, mine wouldnt see the 160 mark until she was 330bhp and that still took a long time and that was still only on speedo so prob not 160, if i was you id think bout what you want to do with the car what power u want what handeling etc. as scoobs are awsome cars however you will find no matter how cheap u get one they will always end up rincing your money in either repairs if cheap for a reason or mods cos you will always want more power. so be prepaired to spend big if you wanna go for more power. things like ecus remaps clutches gearboxs turbos etc all add up. and if you get near 300 horses your gonna wanna put some money aside for a clutch, and if your gonna hammer it, then bit extra aside in case of a gearbox. its not cheap but its worth it in the end. but as you stand id go get it health checked n put on wideband check to see how its running, then if all ok, spend ur money on gettin main service bits done, ie belts fluids etc. the once youve done that, think bout where you wanna go with mods. can start off with a map. or ecu and map. to turbo injectors exhaust ( de cat ) endless options.

however i would agree with about comment, and get shot of induction kit, these are only needed when running a FMIC as theres no room for airbox due to pipe work for FMIC hope that helps.
