Default Subaru battery not charging

I had a call from a guy a couple of nights ago that bought a stripped out car to track but on the way home the heater matrix burst and water leaked into the footwell and the battery stopped charging. He suspected the alternator had gone and bought one from me but since fitting it he still has the same problem.

The alternator I sent was ok but anything can happen but is it more likely that it wasn't a coincidence and something got damaged when the matrix burst? It just seems odd that he's fitted another alternator and the problem is still there

Thanks,

Paul

I think that's the case, I think either the loom or ecu got soaked but would that stop an alternator from charging?

The guy also said he didn't notice the battery light on the dash and reading elsewhere it says that if the alternator isn't connected the light/clocks it doesn't charge. Now this might be complete internet rubbish but it's worth looking at. The car is apparently really stripped out so I've asked him to check the dashboard light as well.

Thanks

The little light on the dash MUST come on when igniion is on, and go out when enginer starts, or no, it won't charge.
