Default gauges??

i'm after some fairly discrete looking guages. i was thinking three guages single din under the headunit....similar to those in the mitsi's.....defi do some.
any other thoughts??? dont want dashboard mounted ones. first glance i'd like people to not notice them!

any thoughts about digital ones???

the main thing i need is an oil pressure guage.

thoughts and pics would be appreciated.

It's not a good idea to have gauges sited in a place where you have to take your eyes off the road to look.

The Defi BF series are pretty discreet until they're on

I had 3 in a din plate in my mazda as I didnt want pods on the dash and you cant get a pillar mount for them. I have the din plate for sale if youre interested.

i didnt really think about taking my eyes off the road to look at the guages -fair point! the only real one i need is an oil pressure guage.
the defi bf series look really good -i like the idea but actually pretty rich!
r spec have a similar one for a lot less money -doesnt seem to be quite as simple though.
might have to start saving for some defi's!

perhaps i should consider an a-pillar mount?
unless u guys have any other thoughts?

I use prosport gauges. Excellent for the money in my opinion, especially the steppers.
Here's mine -

Yup, I think they are really good for the money, not noisy at all, nice start up sweep to.

Not the best pic but there you go.

If you can afford something better - do it!
From many posts on here and from experience of my sons and his G/F's, avoid Prosport, they seem too prone to problems.

My prosport are perfect, no problems at all. And to be honest there are more people on here that rate them than don't. And as normal everyone soon says when something is $hit but would not bother saying when something is great.

I've had my prosports for a year and they are perfect. For what they cost compared to a defi set up there is no contest. Yes the defi's are really good but in all honesty so are the prosport steppers. The only thing a defi does that the steppers can't is record.

you can get the standard prosports which I had for around £30 a gauge off Ebay. Had Prosports in 2 of my cars over the last 3 years and work perfectly.

I have got prosports in my bugeye and love them, never had any problems and as such am about to add a oil pressure gauge as well.

Got all mine off eBay for around £35 each.

If its discreet looking gauges your after to fit under your head unit, you wont beat the lamco units imho. They were a £1000 option from subaru and at 40mm there much smaller than the 52/60 mm units. They sit flush & depending on what colour you buy will match with your oe clocks.

Never thought of Lamco! They look very similar to the defi's actually.
Quite like the digi black out guages when the car is off. The prosport do seem the most reasonable and the defi bf range seems to be discobtinued.
The more I look at the din units (as a factory fit) the more dated and tired they look.
Im starting to wonder whether an a-pillar install might be the way forward with say 52mm guages.
Need to look at the steppers in more detail too.
Anyone had any probs with eBay guages? Seems I'd save a fair few quid!

You can also get din sized defi's, think the Tommy Kieara (excuse spelling) came with them as standard. Occasionally see them come up on eBay for circa £70. Seen a couple of sets on here for sale too.

i got lamco gauges in my impreza already, got oil temp, presure, bat and boost on a seperate pod but they are just too small if im honest to be of use and would prefer a warning gauge too

are the lamco gauges quite accurate then ?

has anyone seen or had any experience of the Blitz stuff: the r-vit or the touch brain???
seem to lack the appeal of a real gauge but looks like it the way things are heading!

lamco's do seem a little small.
leaning towards the defi bf at the mo! -better start saving!

found these too:
EvoScan OBDII Mitsubishi MUTII DataLogger Scantool

HKS USA HKS CAMP2 Real-Time Engine Monitoring this seems like it can convert the info into AV signal and display on your monitor or AV desk.
