use one from a GX.

Why you wouldnt want the scoop is beyond me, unless you like infernal temperatures under the bonnet.

Keep the scoop. You'd be surprised how much it helps keep temps down.

they all have a recess in the bonnet. If you want it fully smoothed its a bodyshop job

I was very tempted to go with a RCM reverse bonnet vent thingy. After reading Harveys posts regarding under bonnet temps etc I decided to keep the original scoop in place.

Doesnt the RCM reverse scoop suck out hot air so surely thats as good as blowing cold air in? Les drag as well?

A very good indication is to take the car out for spirited drive, pull over, stop the engine and watch the heat haze as the warm air escapes the engine bay.

At speed with the vortex effect/air pressure difference this will only increase the benefit of the air flowing out of the engine bay, on a Spec C who cares about the very minimal cooling effect on the gearbox when you have a transmission oil cooler.

The vaned designed creates a low pressure area (that's why vents are vaned) this in turn draws warm air out. The drag factor was also crucial in my decision to dispense with the scoop whilst going FMIC. The bonnet flapping at high speed is very unnerving. The other added bonus is a better view of the road ahead.

I was scoopless on previous my classic with over 500bhp for nearly a year and did not see any increase in temps........

New car will also have the same vent, hoping for a little more power with this one.
