Default How much, and When - yeh, its servicing

And yes I have searched, but cant find what i'm looking for.

Now I had good look through the service book of my X reg classic T 2000 @ 75k and it actually says the Cam belt wasnt changed at the designated time. Every stamp after than just has the dealership details with nothing about any works that have been carried out. (all services were done early, and it has only been doing about 6k a year, that is untill I picked it up)

Now I really am hoping that the previous person had it changed but just didnt get it specially recorded. Otherwise I've been driving round for 20k miles needing it changed.

My question is - how much should I be expecting to layout for a full cambelt change service, In the process of getting some quotes.

Also some advice needed - gearbox is getting a bit sticky, and sometimes it really needs a good shove to get in first / reverse. All other gears are fine - is this going to be expensive, to put right? and whats involved.

Just had one quote back £881.08 inc vat & labour for full service + timing belt + water pump.

Any good?

my 50k service which included cambelt was £451.16 and that was at subaru main dealer so your quote seems very expensive tbh. even cheaper here

just out of interest the service may be up to date, try contacting those dealers in the service history they may have the details on their records/computer system. main dealers allways have them.

Yes, I will be contacting them tomorrow, as their number is in the booklet. I did think £881 was expensive, was expecting to pay just over half that.

As Jura suggests, find a specialist you can trust. Main dealer should tell you whats been done and when. Bob
