Scoob mapped at engine mapper today
Well what can I say, I have a new car!!! Or at least that's how it feels to drive now.
Ok, first of all a few apologies, firstly to stv, for delaying his tweak by approx 4.5 hours, and a thank you also to stv for his help today and the trip tomasda for supplies!! Lol
Secondly to Graham for what can only be described as a car that wanted to fight him every step of the way!!
And thirdly to my mate who came along and was assured we would be done by late lunchtime mid afternoon at the latest and finally got back to mine at 10 to 6!!!
Anyway on to the trials and tribulations of the day, arrived at silverstone bright and early, and set about changing the injectors, number 3 was a pig to get in and sealed so fanned about with that and finally got her in.
Onto the rollers by about 10.45am, car started missing really badly, plumes of black smoke out the back that a red Indian would have been proud of, stopped session to investigate, plugs out and cleaned and put back in, car was better but still missing, we then found that cylinder 1 had no seal on bottom of injector by some great detective work by graham, so sorted that, injector back in and back on the rollers, missing again!!! I'm ready to cry at this point with frustration, but we persevered, plugs came out again, replaced with a brand new set, and hey presto she was singing again.
Graham managed to eak out 311bhp, but with a misfire again, so it was decided to tail it off a bit for safety ,to I think 303.4bhp with no misfire, I left the graph there so not 100% on actual figure but it was around that. So again it appears that pesky version 1 coil packs have foiled me again, although not to the same degree as previously.
As far as the car itself goes, it is like a new car to me, it is so smooth, no lag at all, and goes like stink, got to sort a newage coilpack conversion out and then get it tweaked by Graham to where he thinks it should have been today around the 325 bhp Mark, but apart from that, it was a good strong engine with no faults other than the coil packs, so all in all I'm over the moon with the days events.
Once again a massive thank you to Graham for all his hard work, which went far and away above the call of duty today, car was on the rollers from 10 to 11 till 10 past 4!!!!

Stu, the coil packs have been changed more times than I can remember over the nearly 8 years I've had the car, but they keep letting me down so going to swap to newage packs to cure the problem.

In fairness I've only ever replaced them with known second hand ones, so only ever going to get limited time out of them, but it's time to go for the conversion now I'm looking for extra ponies and reliability long term from that part of the engine. I normally try and replace stuff as I go along with better items, just never got round to doing this part yet.
I'm hoping that the conversion will leave the car in a position to achieve the target figure of 325 which Graham thinks is more than possible, then I'm leaving it alone engine wise until it pops, going to concentrate on more handling mods, replace rear calipers to match the front brembos, and then some niggly bodywork bits that I want sorted, then I,ll be happy to leave the car alone and enjoy...
