Started my subaru today for the first time since i put new turbo on! help please

Exclamation Started my subaru today for the first time since i put new turbo on! help please

hi everyone 2 weeks ago i put a vf34 on my car. during the process i lost alot of coolant. used alot of wd40 tryna crack the bolts!

i started her today and shes abit smokey. the exhaust tip is like black and wet. is this normal?

im abit worried. i know there turbos perfect as i seen it runnig and evan went out in the car a day before i bought it!

so any help much appriciated

What colour is the smoke and does it clear when warmed up, if black smoke would be fuel and something could have been damaged or disturbed while swapping turbos, also if only after just starting could be wd40 burning off, if it runs ok leave ticking over fir a bit then reassess it on next startup.

was it a like for like swap?

check the oil return is connected correctly and crack the oil feed banjo when its running to see if you're getting oil to the turbo.

If you're upgrading to a VF34 then you'll need a map for certain.

could be oil in the cylinders from the knackered turbo you took off ?

okay.. the turbo i took off was only a year old! perfect.. i left it running for 20 mins and it did die down alot! just a tiny bit of smoke. rang my freind at powerstation he said just where ive lost coolant or oil etc and its got into the exhaust.

its booked in for a remap next month! just sat there waiting now.

thats good news chap. What supporting mods and power are you running or planning?

Did you get the 34 for a good price?

i have currently got a full decat.. downpipe,centrepipe and upipe, the vf34 which i paid 450 for only done about 30k . 3 port boost solinoid, k&n air filter, sti pinks, sti top mount, fuel pump and the an ecutek remap next month at powerstation.

think thats everything!

id be happy with anything around the figure. im excited when its all done ill put some pictures up the graphs etc

realistic target mate, 400 is a big step up tho. What gearbox/clutch you running? What year is the Scoob?

yeah think thats when it starts getting expensive!

i have a 2003 wrx. standerd gear box and clutch. hopefully should be fine!

its not getting used for trackdays or stuff like that. just for weekend use as i have a work van.

I haven't been to sure what to expect! I've seen people on here with simular mods. With like 320ish then see some one on here the other same mods with like 351 I think he said

try and find a sti scoop before the remap to take full advantage of the intercooler.
