Loads of people have stuck on a larger turbo (TD05, VF34, VF35, SC 36 etc) with injectors, decat, plugs, panel filter, fuel pump and re-map.

As long as it's mapped properly and you make sure it's looked after and the brakes done then reliability isn't a problem.

Typical upgrade route for these is something like a VF35 turbo, STI 550cc pink injectors and an STI top mount, oh don't forget really you need to decat the up pipe for the best results.

With this setup you should see between 310-330bhp quite comfortably with not too much stress on any of the components.

I went down that very route on the same car.
Started off with a Milltek 3" decat and Walbro fuel pump and remap.
Then bought a VF35, STI pinks, decatted the up pipe, Zen remap 312.1 bhp on WRX intercooler.
Better fuel consumption than when new with just the PPP. No reliabilty issues.
As Midlife says, brakes will need some better discs and pads to cope with any more than 265ish reliably and without fade.

Ok cheers for the help going to ring Powerstation Monday morning to get it booked in, exhaust pipes have already been done with remap made 282hp with PPP back box I'm sure they only do the turbo and remap they don't put in bigger injectors if I see around 310 to 320 hp I'll be pleased.

You will struggle on the WRX (blue) injectors to feed the larger amouint of air that the bigger turbo can flow......

Look forward to seeing the results. Do you have a full decat system? I am going down a similar route to you but was going to use a sports cat downpipe. Still want to pass the MOT, so not sure which to decat and which to leave.

Decat up pipe and down pipe PPP back box had the Ecutek remap already done made 282 bhp, I'll be happy with what ever gains it gives it's not so much about the numbers it's how it drives that matters to me!

I have always been interested in doing this to my car, however was always a bit wary wether the standard internals could cope with the power. I've heard some people get away with it, others go pop.

Did you upgrade the intercooler?

x2. Looking to go down this route next year, aiming for 300bhp, but 332 sounds an awful lot on standard internals.

Was classing the gearbox as internal. Any ideas what bhp or torque standard newage 5 speed gearbox is good for?

It depends on how you drive the car..... I ran my Bug WRX at about 370 ish BHP and somewhat less torque without problems on the Bug 5 speed box with no problems.

Then Cookstar on here ran his bug 5 speed at a lot less torque and trashed his box like chocolate......and his clutches LOL

LOL

The car is fantastic to drive it just don't stop pulling, turbo comes in a bit later now but holds power a lot longer, at about 70 to 80 mph it's very good on fuel better than before!

Excellent, just what i wanted to hear. So many people say that mpg gets better, but it sounds strange!
